The Baby Learning Lab is directed by Dr. Lauren Emberson, Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of British Columbia. Our research examines how young babies learn and how their amazing learning abilities support their development (e.g., vision, language). Our studies focus on infants from birth to 2 years of age. In many of our studies, we use infant-friendly neuroimaging methods to get a glimpse of how learning and new experiences change the activity of their brains. We strive to provide a fun interactive experience for infants and their families. We would love for you to join us!

We are part of the UBC Early Developmental Research Group. Our research is supported by the James S. McDonnell Foundation and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. In addition, we collaborate with clinicians at the B.C Women’s and Children’s Hospitals to understand how different early life experiences (e.g., being born prematurely) can impact learning and brain development.
